ABOUT THE LAB
The Sandelich Lab focuses on improving how emergency departments recognize and respond to adolescent substance use, opioid exposure, and co-occurring mental health crises. Our work integrates implementation science, outcomes research, and community-engaged strategies to ensure that emergency encounters result in continuing care rather than episodic stabilization.
Mission
Reduce preventable harm by identifying substance use early, responding with evidence-aligned intervention, and strengthening connections between emergency and outpatient care.
Vision
A care environment where adolescents receive immediate recognition, developmentally appropriate support, and clear linkage to sustained treatment pathways.
